- Glanua Group seeks to fill 100 new roles with a further 150 over the next five years
- Loughrea-based environmental engineering company expects total revenue to increase to €150m this year
BHSL, the Irish company behind a series of acquisitions in the water and wastewater sector, is rebranding to Glanua and is announcing the creation of 250 new jobs.
The newly formulated Glanua Group LTD will be headquartered in Loughrea, Co Galway and specialise in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions to design, build and maintain critical water and wastewater infrastructure across Ireland and the UK.
Glanua is now seeking to fill 100 new roles in the environmental and engineering sectors and plans to add another 150 staff over the next five years as it is well-positioned to capitalise on the increased importance of sustainability and the emerging benefits of the circular economy. Glanua has experienced significant growth in recent years and already employs 320 people across the Group.
Its clients include Uisce Éireann, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, Northern Ireland Water, Kerry Group, Glanbia and ABP. Total revenue in Glanua amounted to €97m in 2022 and is projected to increase to €150m this year.
Limerick-based BHSL, now Glanua Group LTD, was the holding company for Glan Agua Ireland, Glan Agua UK, Hydro International and MEIC. Under the new rebranded and integrated identity, these companies have been renamed to Glanua Ireland, Glanua UK, Glanua Industrial and Glanua Civils respectively.
Glanua provides innovative and turnkey engineering solutions in the environmental, waste and energy sectors. It works with local authorities and private clients in the food and pharmaceutical sectors in several countries to deliver award-winning water and wastewater solutions.
It also provides advanced products, services and expertise to help municipal, commercial and industrial clients to guarantee environmental compliance, future-proof key infrastructure and support them in meeting their sustainability goals, including the achievement of Net Zero.

BHSL, an environmental management company, acquired Meath-base Hydro International, a leading industrial wastewater treatment solutions provider, in June 2017.
In February 2022, BHSL acquired Loughrea-based Glan Agua and sister-company MEIC. At the conclusion of that deal, Glan Agua became the largest company in the then BHSL Group. The new Glanua Group will now be headquartered in Glan Agua’s offices at Railway House in Loughrea and BHSL will relocate from Limerick as part of the new group integration.

Glanua Industrial, formerly Hydro International, provides solutions in the industrial and municipal water and wastewater industry. In addition to design, build, operation and maintenance capabilities, it has an extensive off-site manufacturing and innovation facility based in Navan, Co. Meath and also has offices in the UK and Central Europe. The company has collaborated with some of Ireland’s leading industrial, food and beverage and pharmaceutical multinationals and has delivered numerous projects in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the US. Existing clients include meat processors ABP and Kerry Group, as well as Glanbia.
BHSL has specialised in the development of a unique, patented system (Fluidised Bed Combustion) to convert untreated poultry manure into energy for heating, cooling and electricity generation.
The Glanua Group is chaired by Denis Brosnan, the former Kerry Group chief executive. Mr Brosnan joined BHSL as chairman in 2016.
