A Successful Safety Week at Glanua’s 1A ECI Sites

Last week, Glanua concluded a successful Safety Week at its 1A Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) sites. The week-long initiative aimed to address and reduce the likelihood of accidents and incidents related to key trends identified in Health and Safety (H&S) assessments from last year (2023).

Over the week, more than 100 employees took part in tailored training and events aligned with the 2023 trends and statistics. We held several training sessions on critical topics such as Work at Height, Confined Space, Emergency Drills, CPR, use of Defibrillators, and “Know Your Safe Zones” plant and equipment demos. Participating Uisce Eireann sites included Leixlip WTP, Ballymore Eustace WTP, Jonesbridge WTP, Rathvilly WTP, Newtown WTP, Goatenbridge WTP, Rosadrehid WTP and Glashaboy WTP.

Construction Industry Charity, The Lighthouse Club, hosted an excellent talk emphasising the support they offer to Construction workers and the importance of mental well-being along with healthy snacks and treats to promote overall health and well-being among our team.

Robert Kearney, Framework Manager for ECI 1A, said, “This was a fantastic week to increase the focus on key areas that matter. We looked at last year’s stats and trends to shape the initiative, and this information was extremely useful in designing a safety week that addresses the most critical areas. I’d like to thank everyone who participated, our HSE team, and Uisce Eireann for supporting the event and actively participating in several sites. The enthusiasm throughout the week undoubtedly contributed to its success.”

Glanua is using data-driven analysis such as statistics and trends to make informed safety decisions and proactively reduce risks to ensure the safety of everyone on site. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that our employees go home safely to their families at the end of every working day.
