Apprenticeships
Build a career in water. Start the day you join us.
Earn as you Learn
Earn while you learn on the UK and Ireland’s most important water and wastewater projects. Apprenticeships at Glanua in Civil Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation, Mechanical Fitting and Utilities.
Why Glanua
Glanua is leading the way in developing the next generation of talent for the water and wastewater sector. Our apprentices don’t sit on the sidelines. From week one, they’re on live sites, working alongside experienced engineers and operators, picking up skills that take a classroom years to teach.
An apprenticeship with us means a paid job, a nationally recognised qualification and real responsibility on projects that keep communities supplied with clean water and protect the environment.
Why An Apprenticeship
Three reasons people choose this route:
Earn while you learn.
You’re paid from day one. No student debt, no part-time juggling.
Real experience, real projects.
You’ll work on the same water and wastewater infrastructure our senior engineers deliver
A qualification that opens doors.
Finish your apprenticeship with a recognised QQI award and the kind of hands-on CV that employers across the sector are fighting for.
Our Apprenticeship Disciplines
We currently take on apprentices across four trades in the UK and Ireland. Each one leads to a fully recognised qualification and a clear career path inside Glanua.
Civil Engineering
Design, build and commission the physical infrastructure that moves and treats water. Pipelines, treatment plants, pumping stations — if it’s in the ground or above it, civil is involved.
Electrical & Instrumentation
Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) combines electrical engineering and instrumentation engineering to ensure processes operate safely, efficiently, and within specified parameters this involves hands on install, commissioning and fault finding working with a wide variety of sensors, cables, PLC and VSDs.
Mechanical Fitting
Install, maintain and repair the pumps, valves, motors and mechanical systems at the heart of every treatment facility.
Utilities Operator
Run the plants day to day. Monitor processes, maintain quality, and make sure the water leaving the site meets every standard it needs to.
Is An Apprenticeship Right For You?
Apprenticeships aren’t one size fits all. Ours are open to:
- School leavers looking for an alternative to third-level
- Career changers who want something more hands-on
- Mature learners coming back to education
- Women and men from every background
If you’re curious, capable with your hands, and you like the idea of being paid to learn you’ll fit in here.
“If a traditional classroom route isn’t for you, a practical, on-the-job learning environment might be.”
Brian Hayes, Contracts Manager, Glanua
